Prescription & Medication Management Policy

At Solidarity Mental Health, PLLC medication management is provided as part of a comprehensive psychiatric treatment plan. The following policies ensure safe, ethical, and legally compliant prescribing practices.
1. Treatment Philosophy
Medication may be prescribed when clinically appropriate to support treatment goals. Prescribing decisions are based on:

state and federal regulations
2. Prescription Refill Policy
To ensure continuity of care:

Refill requests must be submitted at least 3 business days in advance.

Refills are processed during business hours only.

Appointments may be required before refills are authorized.

Missed appointments may delay refills.
Early refills are not guaranteed.
3. Pharmacy & Medication Issues
Patients are responsible for:

providing accurate pharmacy information

contacting the pharmacy first for refill status

notifying the practice of pharmacy changes
If a prescription issue arises at the pharmacy, patients may contact the practice through the designated patient communication channel.
4. Controlled Substances Policy
Controlled substances (including stimulants, benzodiazepines, and certain sleep medications) require careful monitoring and may be prescribed when clinically appropriate.
Patients receiving controlled medications agree to:

use one designated pharmacy

take medications only as prescribed

not share, sell, or misuse medications

safeguard medications to prevent loss or theft
Lost, stolen, or damaged controlled medications may not be replaced.
5. Monitoring & Safety Requirements
To ensure safe prescribing, the practice may require:

periodic follow-up appointments

prescription monitoring program (PMP) review

urine drug screening when clinically indicated

identity verification for controlled substances
Failure to comply with safety requirements may result in medication changes or discontinuation.
6. Telehealth Prescribing
Medications may be prescribed via telehealth when permitted by federal and Washington State law.
Certain medications may require:

in-person evaluation

coordination with local providers
7. Medication Changes & Side Effects
Patients should promptly report:

For urgent medication reactions, seek immediate medical care.
8. After-Hours & Emergencies
This practice does not provide emergency services.
If you experience:

severe medication reactions

thoughts of self-harm

medical emergencies
Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
9. Non-Adherence & Safety Concerns
The practice reserves the right to modify or discontinue prescribing if:

medications are misused
-
safety concerns arise
-
follow-up care is not maintained
-
treatment recommendations are not followed
10. Patient Agreement
By receiving care through Solidarity Mental Health, patients acknowledge understanding and agreement with this medication policy.
